  I bought this game just because wanted to play the version 3.
  But I really liked this. Worth every second I spend on it.
  Have a nice story and a great and simple gameplay.. The first part of the great series. Great storyline, fun missions. Thanks to Knuckle Cracker for a great idea for a game! I remember playing Creeper World many years ago on Kongregate. I am glad the CA series is quite a success now =D. Play as Noah - a man who decided that building an Ark was not enough, so he built laser turrets and mortars to stop the flood.. Fairly fun game, especially if you played Creeper World 3 and 2 and wanted to see where it started. But if you're interested in these games I actually recommend playing the third one first, as it's the best, and if you liked it, then checking out the first two. Compared to the latter two, the first one's quite primitive in story and gameplay. The characters have no names, for instance (except for one, near the end). No portrait art either.
  
  I mainly played the game to get some background story info on the masterpiece of the third game, but was somewhat disappointed to find it didn't even have that much background info; the story was very bare-bones. Obviously this game was made much earlier, when the developer was still learning to program games, so some roughness is to be expected. If you don't expect a lot, it's worth the price (even if you can play it for free elsewhere, with some minor differences).
  
  The one interesting thing about this game that the others don't have is its upgrade system. Unlike the others, you can't just upgrade whatever you want based on tech points or whatever, instead, you have only 6 possible upgrades, and you need to collect, on each level/map, upgrade tokens to use. Often maps don't have 6 tokens, so you need to prioritize which to spend them on. This can lead to some interesting gameplay, although in practise it's so simplistic that you almost always will just spend them on increased tower range and firing rate (those advantages are just too good to pass), and then spend the other tokens (if any) on the less attractive four options. But overall this system of upgrading is interesting and I hope it returns in Creeper World 4 or perhaps in other games by other developers.. Visually minimalistic but very, very deep strategy that doesn't feel too pressuring as time goes by. It can get quite relaxing later on once you've placed enough weapons to indefinitely keep the Creeper at bay until you decide to seize more of its territory.. 25 hours of good fun for $5 USD. That's me 100%ing the game, achievementwise, which is not counting what amounts to New Game+. And the fun was good. I very much enjoyed myself. There are bonus levels that have nothing to do with the... not-amazing plot that can be gimmicky and ridiculous - one looks like a giant smiley face, for example. These aren't as fun as the plot levels and the non-gimmicky bonus levels. But never was I bored. Though arguably, maybe I should've been.
  
  There's a criticism to make of this game. It is, that, in a level, you reach a point of stabilization, where your energy is net positive and you're killing as much creeper as is coming at you. At this point, it's basically impossible to lose. You've won. But it can take perhaps 15 minutes sometimes to ACTUALLY win. And in this time, there's really no challenge (at least theoretically, as human error remains very possible, especially before you get a solid intuitive feel for the mechanics). But I can't make that criticism, because I still find the act of slowly clearing all the creeper off the map and covering it in neat, green energy fields, all in a row, abundantly satisfying.
  
  This game takes the concepts of powering and sim citying from RTS, and makes them even more satisfying. It scratches the part of your brain that likes things lined up in a perfect row or grid, neatly patterned.
  
  And beyond that, it remains challenging - if not very much so on all levels, but enough to keep you interested and on your toes (and, for one level, enough to make me look for a video of someone beating the level to mimic them). It has a fair amount of strategic depth to its mechanics.
  
  It also has... a story. It's not a good one, and is filled with writing one might expect from an old free browser game. Atrocious dialogue and sci fi cliches abound. As well as a weird Norse thing going for no apparent reason. Don't get it for the story.
  
  But get it. If you like basebuilding in RTS or in general, and/or if you ever find alphabetizing your books, organizing your writing utensils, or arranging your clothes by shade enjoyable.. 10/10.
  I bought this game several years ago on knucklecracker.com and it still is one of my favourite games ever.
  The Creeper World triology is a must-have for strategy fans.. A very good game. Really set the ground base for the Creeper World series. If you played Creeper World 3 first on steam, this is worth a buy if only to see how the series began.
